M A Barker Photography I am a Nautical Photographer with a passion and meditation for bearing photographic witness to processes as they unfold.

Candid environmental nautical photography using existing light when possible and minimal editing, specializing in the restoration and operation of historic wooden ships I have a candid environmental style of photography preferring to work with existing light. My primary focus is photo documenting the work processes involved in the restoration and daily operation of historic wooden tall ships in p

articular, and boats and nautical themes in general. I volunteer as staff photographer for the Schooner Adventure. I am the photographer and manage social media for Gloucester Marine Railways. I am honored to be a photographer attached to the USS Constitution 1812 Marine Guard

I have had the privilege and honor of photographing restoration processes aboard the Boston Tea Party Ship Beaver, the Schooners Adventure, Roseway, and Ernestina plus the tall ships Mayflower II, Friendship, Formidable, and gill net fishing boat thePhyllis A. I have documented sailing aboard many more. My photographs have appeared in national and local publications including Wooden Boat, Sea History (a National Maritime Historical Society magazine), Marlinspike the 2018 Sail Tall Ships Directory, the cover of the 2020 Cape Ann Chamber of Commerce's, Cape Ann Guide and the cover of the 2023 Discover Gloucester Visitor Guide. My photos are also featured in the 2 volume music collection, "Old Salem, in ballad and song" by Bob Strom.
