माटी के मोल | २९.११.२०२२
after almost 3 years of acting in front of the camera within the four walls of my house, I finally got a chance to step back on stage. 's Mati Ke Mol happened on 29th November 2022, a classic and simple story about just another kid in the city who dreams about being an actor.
The outcome was something that none of us expected. The show was delayed by almost an hour. Panic and stress all over. The entire team running around, making calls, showed how much it all meant to them. It wasn't just a bunch of directors and cast. The production and technicals. All of them treated this play as their own little baby.
I still get chills when I think of the moment when the crowd started singing the song, which was a part of the play, when the first lights came on stage and everyone started hooting and clapping, when I saw the audience cry during emotional scenes, when everyone clapped at the dialouge 'Didi, mai select ho gaya'. It just felt like the entire audience connected with the play and the story. I remember forgetting to put down the lights after the scenes because he was used to keep clapping.
I still remember, when I entered the college as a JC kid and got to know about theatre in Xavier's, I told myself that, graduate hone se pehle ek standing ovation leke jana hai. Mati Ke Mol fulfilled my dream. Got to call my mom on stage, in front of everyone. I hope I made her feel proud. Got to thank my love on stage, in front of the entire crowd, for everything she has done for me and for always being a constant support.
There are so many people who have been a part of this wonderful ride. I can't tag all of them, but you guys know who y'all are. Thank you so much for making this all happen, for making this a core memory of my college life.
Yash Mishra mentioned the play during his sign off speech at Jashn-e-Fitoor, and now I know, for a matter of fact, that Mati Ke Mol is going to stay in this college for quite some time...
