For those who follow my page: I’m originally from Manhattan and spent my summers on Cape Cod, but I’ve called Long Island home since 1982. It all started when a friend in Fort Lauderdale suggested I try driving water taxis. I ended up getting hired by a guy in Blue Point, right next to the Sayville Yacht Club, and that’s where I met Ellen. The rest, as they say, is history.
In my career as a real estate appraiser, I’ve had the opportunity to tour some truly exceptional homes and explore some incredible neighborhoods. If I could give one piece of advice, it’s this: pay attention, look around, and find the beauty in wherever you happen to be.
Here’s a series of photos I took today while working in Seaview. It’s a unique neighborhood right next to Ocean Beach, known for its beautiful paverstone walks. With a crisp north wind and spring right around the corner, it was great to see the local businesses opening up and homeowners getting ready for the summer season.

Thursday AM early run to Fishers Island for appraisal work. Cool thing about the Ferry… You don’t drive on yours have to turn the car around and back it into the spot which is a trip in itself. And apparently that Ferry serves as this school bus for all the kids in the morning for New London area kids that actually go to school in Suffolk County New York on an island. Winfield Hall, also known as the Woolworth Estate, is a vast, 48,000-square-foot Italian Renaissance-style mansion located on 16 acres in Glen Cove, NY, built for F.W. Woolworth, founder of the “Five-and-Dime” stores. Completed around 1917 by architect C. P. H. Gilbert on the site of a prior mansion that mysteriously burned down, the estate cost an estimated $10 million at the time, featuring imported marble, limestone, and an iconic, multi-million dollar grand staircase, all reflecting Woolworth’s personal fascination with Napoleon Bonaparte. After Woolworth’s death in 1919, the property passed through the hands of prominent figures like the Reynolds family, was used as a model school, and is currently listed on the National Register of Historic Places, maintaining its status as one of Long Island’s most historically significant and grand Gold Coast properties.
