iPhone photo dump of yesterday’s flat lay workshop with Meaghan of ! I was sick for the first workshop, so was extra grateful to have been able to attend for round two!

I left feeling inspired and excited to put my own twist on everything I learned and to apply it to the 2023 wedding season. Grateful for the opportunity to continue to educate myself and be inspired by new thoughts, new processes and most of all, new people. 🤍

Shout out to all the new friends, old friends, and vendors who made yesterday so much fun!

Tressa and Tom live in CO, but are super proud of their Michigan roots. A wedding day view of Comerica and a private drink from the rooftop of the DAC was a must! I love how the intentional focus on the stadium helps us to see the moment from their eyes instead of our own!

One of my favorite musicians just released their new album, so naturally Arielle and I had a dance party while doing chores around the house! The good vibes brought on by the Friday sunshine and new music reminded me of Sydney & DJ’s first dance on the iconic black and white checkered floor at Shepherd’s Hollow. Everything about these two was classic, yet fun, and that big group hug is just one small glimpse into their fun loving personalities!

My little girl turned six months old yesterday and it’s crazy to think I photographed this gorgeous wedding in Nashville while 35 weeks pregnant. I’m so excited to see the spring sunshine today and for all the weddings I have on my calendar this season!

I’ve photographed many beautiful and meaningful ceremonies that took place in nature or at venues, but church weddings are always my favorite.

There is something emotional yet sobering about entering a place of worship. Add onto that the fact that you are promising - in front of God and man - that the only thing that will stop you from loving the person in front of you is death? That’s some Jane Austin romance right there. Chills!!

Lizzie and Sean were so family and friend oriented, and that is something I LOVE about the couples that I work with. Almost every one of my couples tells me:

🤍 family photos are a high priority
🤍 they can’t wait to dance the night away with their closest family and friends
🤍 their marriage is 100% more important than the wedding

Honestly, so grateful to have found MY kinda people and have the opportunity to document their wedding day.

To all my couples, past, present and future.. thank you!!! 🤍

There's a time for posed photos - like family photos on the altar after the ceremony. ⁠
⁠
However, for couples photos, I LOVE prompting couples towards a movement and then allowing them to make it their own. I want you to feel like the happiest, prettiest, most genuine version of YOU on your wedding day, and that means giving you room to be yourself!⁠
⁠
One of my favorite prompts is asking couples to walk toward me while looking at each other. As you can see here, each couple put their own twist on the movement and it looks joyful and effortless - just like being with the love of your life should.

Even though I’m a photographer, I’m a littttle (okay a lot) type A. I love a fresh planner, excel checklist, and most of all…a wedding day timeline 😎

Wedding days have so many fun, organic, unplanned in between moments…but they also have a lot of traditional, important, can’t miss moments too! The first look, signing the marriage license, cutting the cake and first dances…these are all moments that I love having a heads up on so that I can be in position with my camera at the ready so I don’t miss a thing!

…Which is why I am a HUGE proponent of having an in depth Zoom meeting with each of my couples months before their wedding day! During these meetings we discuss timing, logistics, locations, family dynamics, photo lists, and various other “must know” items before the big day. Aside from wedding day, it’s my favorite part of working with each couple!

I had high hopes for our first Christmas as a family of three…but spending it at home with a sick husband and a sick newborn baby wasn’t part of the plan. 🙃 Becoming a mom has taught me the importance of staying positive and flexible when things don’t go according to plan - something that will not only make me a better mom and wife - but also a better photographer too! Wishing you and yours a very Merry Christmas! 🤍
