A line I read on a social media post a while ago - "Some photographers capture moments, legends capture soul of a nation." He did exactly that for over six decades. His photographs of historical figures and events, as well as daily mundane, carried the true spirit of those people and places. As they say, photography is never about the camera or the device, it is always about the vision of the person behind the lens. He was one of the most prolific and celebrated photographers, widely considered as the father of Indian photography, and an inspiration for countless photographers and photojournalists. His passing is a huge loss for the field of photography and photojournalism, but he will continue to live on through his countless incredible works, which will continue to inspire many more photographers. May his legendary soul rest in eternal peace! 💔🙏🏻

The full list of films and the 2025 programmes for the New Zealand International Film Festival (NZIFF) 2025 are finally out (as of the 8th of July); here all the details 🙂 :

For the full list of films, schedules and programmes for each city, please go to https://www.nziff.co.nz/2025/ and first select the preferred city. Click on "Full Programme Out Now" for the 2025 programme. Click on Films for the full list of films. Click on Schedule to see which film is being screened on which date, which city, and which theatres. Some of the films are being screened at multiple cities, so please check accordingly. 🙂
Great to see Cannes 2025 Palme d'Or winning film "It Was Just an Accident" by Jafar Panahi as the opening film of NZIFF 2025 in Auckland. ❤️‍
There are 2 films from India as well at NZIFF 2025 - the Sundance Grand Jury Prize winning Marathi film "Sabar Bonda (Cactus Pears)" directed by Rohan Parashuram Kanawade, and the Hindi film "Homebound" directed by Neeraj Ghaywan which was an official selection in the Un Certain Regard category at Cannes 2025. 🙂

There's some incredible line up of events and indie films this year as well! 🙂❤️

Film juries outside India are doing what the Film Federation of India should have done and should be doing. The debate for the Oscar selection from India will continue, but in the meantime, as Indians, let's be proud of how Payal Kapadia's film All We Imagine As Light has been unstoppable with praises and awards ever since the Grand Prix win at Cannes 2024, with the double nomination next at Golden Globes! ❤️ Lucky are those of us who could (and still can) watch the film in theatres in India, US, and UK, and also at all the film festivals it was screened at. The first Indian film to be nominated for Palme d'Or at Cannes 2024 after 30 years, and first Indian film to win Grand Prix at Cannes, now enroute to Golden Globes after winning multiple awards over the last few months, making Payal Kapadia the first Indian director to be nominated at Golden Globes! History has been created, not once, but multiple times! Congratulations to Payal Kapadia and the whole team! ❤️👏🏻🇮🇳

Amazed to see people from all walks of life, from all cultures, come together for a peaceful protest against the bill in Wellington! (Count is approximate close to 1 lakh or so combining the group on Parliament grounds and on the streets!) ❤️
