ileana Doble Hernandez - Visual Artivist Mexican visual artist working with photography, video and new media. Ileana uses her practice as a form of activism.

Graduated from RIT College of Art and Design MFA & MassArt Post-Bac. Ileana's work has been exhibited in group exhibitions at CICA Museum in Gimpo, South Korea, Carnegie Museum of Art in Pittsburgh, PA, Danforth Art Museum in Framingham, MA, Dairy Arts Center in Boulder, CO and Barret Art Center in Poughkeepsie, NY, where her photograph "Pollito Chicken, 2015" was awarded the First Prize at the National Juried Competition β€œFun House” in 2016.

This is the last week to experience My Dear Americans, it's not enough, at Danforth Museum . Of course I'm biased πŸ˜†, but I really hope you get a chance to see this moving exhibition if you haven't, I'm just so proud of it and so grateful to have had the opportunity to share these works and have worked with amazing people to make it happen!

On November 2nd at 3 pm, I'll be giving a talk about my exhibition "My Dear Americans, it's not enough" at the Danforth Museum ✌️✌️✌️

The exhibition explores issues of gun violence, and presents pieces I've been working on for over 6 years, including my postcards to advocate for gun control and a new site-specific installation that includes AI generated images.

I'll talk about making these works from my perspective as a mother, as an immigrant, and as a form of activism. The museum is also planning other programming related to the day of the dead.

I'm soooo... wise? πŸ¦‰β£οΈ πŸ˜‚...

I'm actually excited about what this lap around the 🌞 will bring. It feels like the last one went by so fast, time will never be enough for me! πŸ˜….

"La vida no me alcanza pa' todo lo que quiero lograr! (a lifetime is not enough for everything I want to accomplish!).

Truth is I can see the growth that I've had and the fruition of the work I've put into it. I'm grateful for the path I'm in, for the opportunities that it brings, for the love, friendship, guidance and support of everyone who has helped me be who I am, and for the amazing privilege of being an artist and being able to follow my calling.

Nina and Rocco left us last week. We miss them deeply πŸ’”. It was so hard to let them go. Nina was 17 yo and Rocco almost 16.

We had them since they were a kitty and a puppy. We brought them with us all the way from Mexico and they moved with us to three different states.

They, along with Lola, were the force and inspiration behind Animal Nature and I'll be forever thankful for their company, their love and their curiosity.

My consolation is thinking that they are all together now, waiting for us.

The exhibition at Boston City Hall feels like a tribute to their existence, and I'm so glad people get to meet them, because they were incredible! I hope their portraits reflect so.

Happy to share that I've been invited by the Danforth Art Museum to give a talk about my work on July 22 at 2pm EST.

I'd be talking about my trajectory so far, my inspiration as a mother and as an immigrant, my photo, video work and experimental installations, and how I envision my art making as a form of activism.
