I’ve been so fortunate in this career. I remember in college, majoring in theatre and photography and getting questioned, and jeered with the jokes of “hope you enjoy that cardboard box”. But I made a life and living out of doing both!

Over the years I’ve photographed some pretty remarkable humans! Olympians (like this mom here), prima ballerinas, authors, actors, creatives, doctors, teachers, sports owners, and so many beautiful everyday families.

This isn’t a brag. I truly don’t know how I got here. But I’m thankful, and grateful to you all.

Bennett with his stuffy
(Swipe to meet Riley, our very real, very excited yellow lab who made a photo together, not realistic. A stuffy felt safer, and just as adorable)

This year I’m intentionally leaning into simplicity.
Timeless photography.
Images that let you be the focus.

During my own maternity session, I learned something unexpected about myself, I didn’t need the big dresses, even though I love them and still think they are beautiful. I wanted to see my bump. My skin. My body in that moment. And now with newborn photos, while I still love the styled setups (and my heart prop) the images I’m loving most are the close ups; his expressions, his smiles, all the silly faces. Even these photos I took on the bed (which are still posed, but feel more natural).

I’m still going to offer studio newborn, maternity and birthday milestones, but they might be more pared down. No AI, just you.

My gosh this week has been heavy. I find myself both wanting to turn off my phone but also make sure I’m bearing witness to what’s happening. In this climate we can’t say we are apolitical because everything is political. Parenting is political, photography is political, eating is political.
I find myself getting enraged by Facebook posts in local groups, but also feeling like I’ve built a community of friends and clients who align with my beliefs. So THANK YOU!
Now look at this baby with his enviable eye lashes (seriously the amount of times we think his eyes are open but it’s just his crazy long eyelashes is many). The nurses in the NICU were obsessed with him and everyone commented that grown women pay lots of money to have lashes like his.

It’s hard to believe you are going to be 2 months next week. These last 8 weeks have flown by. You are growing so much (but still fitting in some newborn clothes). Your burps are that of a grown man (and scare the crap out of the animals), you stay awake more than most kids your age (can you try to sleep a little?) and you love talking and dancing all the time, (we adore the little “oy oy oys” that you say). We love you Benny Blue.

Happy one month to my boy

These two photos say it all. The joy. The chaos. The love.

Instagram vs Reality

He is everything… I am also so tired, and deeply in it. Some days I don’t know what time it is, and some moments I have no idea how to comfort him, only that I’m trying.

If there’s one thing this month has reminded me, it’s that social media shows moments, not the whole story. And nothing replaces real connection, honesty, and showing up for each other off the screen.

To the parents in it right now, you’re not alone.
To my baby blue, happy one month.

2025, you were a lot.

In March, we found out we were pregnant. Something we truly never expected. Being in our 40s and starting over was equal parts shocking, joyful, and terrifying. A brand new chapter, whether we felt ready or not .

From a business perspective, this year was slower. That is hard to say out loud. But I think I also needed a slower year. Time to pause, to feel, to recalibrate.

Some longtime clients moved on, which is always bittersweet, but I was also welcomed by so many new faces who quickly became friends. Truly, thank you to everyone who shares my name, my work, and their trust with the people they love. That kind of support means more than you know.

I still love what I do. Deeply.

I may refocus, evolve, and explore new projects next year, especially in a world that feels louder, more crowded, and increasingly shaped by AI, but the heart of my work has not changed.

I still love maternity photography. Having Dan photograph me just days before giving birth, after a difficult pregnancy, gave me something I will cherish forever. Those images remind me that I was strong, even when I did not feel it.

I still love newborn photography, even though my own little cherub has officially been my most challenging client to date 🙂

And I still love family photography. Watching your children grow. Seeing familiar faces year after year. Hearing kids remember my stuffies or something we laughed about seasons ago. Those connections, those through lines, are everything to me.

This year was hard. And it was beautiful. And I am incredibly grateful.

Thank you for being here ❤️
And if you ever feel inclined to leave a Google review, please know it truly helps and is always appreciated.

Here is to whatever 2026 becomes.

Sometimes photos will show up on my phone as memories and I remember I never posted them to my feed. Like this one of my adorable niece Ella. Isn’t she the cutest? This is from last year.
