Snapping UK Lived in the UK from 2016 to 2021. I took 90K photographs. I've returned for a seven week holiday that is nearing its end. Lets see what happens!

I have many snaps, but I've been pacing myself--read: long sleeps and naps.

I've arrived in Jersey, and I got to attend the Warwick Warriors show at the Medieval Revels at Gorey Castle. I have many snaps from the weeks prior, and I'll have more at my next destinations.

To begin, a "rebel" yell from the defender of Gorey Castle. Hey, I'm a USA citizen.

The top portion is a person reading to someone who may or maynot be weaving a basked.

The lower image is Aristole teaching Alexander the Great, a pictured inspired by a 10th century manuscript derived or translated from an Arabic tale.

Birds, flowers, and hares provide additional detail to the scenes and the borders.

A return visit to the Longthorpe Tower, EH, in Peterborough, UK.

The wall paintings fascinated me the first time I saw them. This time, I was the only person in the tower, and I got a marvelous tour from one of the three guides.

Here's a view of a corner with a niche. The figure is the mother, probably teaching her daughter. In the main part of the left is Alexander the Great being taught by Aristotle (pictured in a different shot), a tale inspired by a 10th century text in Latin which would have been based on an Arabic tale. Above it is a man reading or teaching a person who may be weaving a basket. On the right wall, two apostles. Through out, pictures of birds.

The theme of birds, may or may not be, based on the location of the tower along the edges of the fens. Likewise, the fens probably provided materials suited to basket weaving. The theme of teaching probably stems from the owners long association with the abbey in Peterborough.
