In honor of women everywhere during women’s history month… I was doing a little reading about the Eastern Bluebird and learned it was adopted as a symbol of freedom by the Massachusetts women’s suffrage Association in 1915.

As someone who grew up in Massachusetts and has spent the past 61 years speaking up for her rights this small moment felt like the right one to share. And honestly, we could use a symbol of hope, joy, and freedom right about now. 💙

It’s always a show with these hearty little snowbirds. They’re fearless and curious-instead of flying away when they see my lens, they watch me, watching them!

Finally getting around to posting these from our January snowstorm encounter.

This beauty was in need of a break from the storm and chose our garage and maple tree as her safe haven for a good portion of the day. Once she was up in the tree, she took flight several times heading towards the river and then returning to the same spot watching us watch her. It was magical.

We did contact NH Fish and Game who provided guidance and shared a list of rehab options just in case but eventually, she took flight one last time and didn’t return-and of course, she lived happily ever after ♥️

Maybe someone more familiar with raptors can confirm if she is a she or a he? It was quite large, which is why I suspected female but would love to hear from those of you who are more familiar with them.

Learning to edit winter scenes with a lighter touch.

This snowy Exeter river shot taught me how much small adjustments matter.

My biggest “ah-ha” moment was changing Lightrooms canvas from gray to white-suddenly the tones made sense.

From there, it was all gentle refinements: setting white and black points, softening contrast, lifting shadows, decreasing clarity and adding a hint of dehaze.

None of these edits are dramatic on their own, but together they bring the scene closer to how it actually felt-quiet, bright and peaceful.

Last weekend‘s Wolf Moon setting in the early morning, and the warm glow of evening settling in around Borden Flats Lighthouse, and the Braga Bridge. There’s something special about watching the day open and close over the water. It reshapes everything you thought you already saw.

Grateful for these pockets of beauty tucked into familiar places.
