🏛 Belfast Crumlin Road Gaol.

Belfast, Cavehill & Coastline from above, soaring over North Belfast, this aerial capture showcases the iconic Crumlin Road Gaol, one of the city’s most historic landmarks.

Opened in 1846, the Gaol operated for over 150 years, holding everyone from petty offenders to political prisoners during some of Northern Ireland’s most turbulent decades.

Its Victorian‑era design — the central hub, long wings, and imposing stonework — remains one of the finest examples of 19th‑century prison architecture on the island.

Behind the Gaol, the full sweep of Belfast unfolds: the rugged rise of Cavehill, said to have inspired Jonathan Swift’s Gulliver’s Travels, and the shimmering coastline stretching out toward Belfast Lough.A powerful blend of history, landscape, and heritage — captured from the sky.

📍Crawfordsburn Viaduct, Crawfordsburn Country Park, Bangor Co Down.

ℹ️ The Crawfordsburn Viaduct has stood over Crawfordsburn Glen since 1865, when Sir Charles Lanyon’s five‑arch Scrabo‑stone design first carried trains along the Belfast–Bangor line.

Built by the old BHBR and later passing through several railway companies, it became a listed structure in 1975 and remains one of the most striking pieces of Victorian engineering on the route. More than 150 years later, it’s still in daily use—an iconic landmark blending industry, landscape, and local history.
