So I have dozens of photos scattered on my drawing table, the dogs are going crazy because of the weather, my mentor went to bed an hour ago after our discussions about photographic history and life (those are private, by the way), my house is a mess because I have so little time to make art with the ridiculous schedule I have at work that I’m choosing art over housework, and the dogs haven’t been trained in weeks because I’ve been so obsessed with the art. I think I’ll go to bed now and start again in the morning. Venus of the Keets is draining me.

his is how it starts. I was asked by a lovely model in France if I would collaborate with her and one of the photographers whom she models for. The wardrobe choice was mine; pose and makeup were choices made in the photographer’s studio in France. She was wearing a dress and I changed it to something less formal as seen in my photoshopped sketch. Then I designed a mask through AI and I am now adding it to the drawing along with more birds. I’m considering making this a limited palette similar to my last painting except for the parakeet in her hand and perhaps the mask. Venus of Keets is starting out very nicely. Now if I had more time off from work to keep working on it.
