' Carlow County Council has undertaken a heritage audit of water pumps in the County. Subsequently, a series of oral recordings with people who worked with, used and maintained the water pumps took place. The results are outlined in what promises to be a very worthwhile and enjoyable read, written by Louise Maher. The book will be beautifully illustrated through the photographic prowess of Artur Sikora. Final draft of the book will go to the publishers with the aim of launching the book in late 2025 / early 2026. This book is an action of the County Carlow Heritage Plan 2024-2029 and is funded by The Heritage Council.'

'Before the leaves fall' - a new project. It's completely different from anything I've done so far. But it had to be that way. Working on these photographs woke me from a kind of deep sleep and aroused in me the desire to create again... after years of stagnation.

Pinhole camera 8x10 + Ilford Multigrade IV RC Deluxe Pearl paper negative

The photograph was taken while testing newly purchased film holders. The holders work great.
I created two shots, each twice. One copy is on pearl paper, and the other is on glossy paper. I was interested in the difference in image recording on materials with different finishes.
While glossy paper has greater contrast, pearl paper preserves much more detail. The choice for the future is obvious.
