The nictitating membrane is a protective layer of transparent membrane that covers your eyeball when facing a threat or when hunting. Not all sharks have a nictitating membrane, the Great White Shark must use ocular rotation, which is turning its eyes backwards when attacking its prey.

La membrana nictitante es una capa protectora de membrana transparente que cubre su globo ocular cuando se enfrenta a una amenaza o cuando caza. No todos los tiburones tienen una membrana nictitante, el Gran Tiburón Blanco debe utilizar la rotación ocular, que es girar los ojos hacia atrás cuando ataca a su presa.
