I almost walked right past them.

All I could see were the thorns.

Then I looked a little closer...

And tucked in between them were some of the prettiest wildflowers.

It made me wonder how often we do that with people... and with our businesses.

We focus on what's frustrating.
What's missing.
What isn't growing.
What needs fixing.

Meanwhile, the very thing that makes us beautiful has been there all along.

Sometimes it just takes someone willing to look a little closer.

That's one of my favorite parts of what I do.

Finding the flowers hidden among the thorns.

With all the branding, strategy and marketing work I've been sharing lately, I want to make sure you know something...

**I still photograph babies. And bellies. And families. And I still LOVE it.**

Honestly, I think I'm appreciating this work differently in this season of my life.

Kids grow. Families change. Babies don't stay babies nearly long enough.

And I get to freeze a tiny piece of it.

The newborn snuggles.
The belly you've waited so long to hold a baby against.
The toddler who absolutely will NOT cooperate. 😂
The way your family looks and feels *right now.*

Branding feeds one creative part of me.

Family, maternity and newborn photography feeds another.

I'm really thankful I don't have to choose.

And with the wildflowers blooming right now... this is a pretty beautiful season to capture yours. 🌸

I've been a little quieter here lately.

Not because I'm not working.
Not because I don't have things to say.

Life has just needed more of me than social media did.

And for someone who talks A LOT about showing up, personal branding, and connection... I'll admit, that can make me feel a little weird.

But maybe this is part of it too.

A personal brand doesn't mean you owe the internet every part of yourself.

It means when you DO show up, you show up as you.

I'm still here. Still photographing. Still helping business owners figure out what makes them different. Still getting ridiculously excited when I hear the sentence in a conversation that makes me go, "THAT. That's your thing."

Just remembering that the person comes before the personal brand.

And I think that's exactly how it should be.

They've lived with it for so long, they assume everyone does it.
They don't.

That's why I love this work.

One of my favorite client conversations started with this:
"I don't know what to post."
Funny enough...
Posting wasn't the problem.

As we talked, I realized we hadn't uncovered his brand yet.

So we stopped talking about social media.

Instead, we talked about why he started his business.
The kind of clients he loved serving.
The problems he naturally solved.
The things he believed that most people in his industry didn't.

Suddenly, the content wasn't hard anymore.

Because when you know who you are...You know what to say.

You can't market what you don't brand first.
Everything else gets easier after that.

People ask me if I'm a photographer or a brand strategist.
The answer is... yes.
But honestly?
Neither one is my favorite part.

My favorite part is watching someone realize what makes them different.

The moment they stop trying to sound like everyone else.

The moment they realize their story, personality, and perspective have been the answer all along.

That's the work I love.

The photos just help everyone else see it too.
