there’s a particular kind of yearning for a place that was never home, but somehow feels like it could have been. a place that nestles just right in your heart—one that makes it somehow easier to breathe and quieter inside your own head and then all of a sudden, a place that was once foreign...suddenly feels like somewhere you could belong.
and the Dolomites, I’ll say over and over again, are exactly that for me.
every October I am reminded of the time I spent wandering these jagged peaks, and every year, I find myself wishing I were there again, among the golden larches and foggy ridges and little rifugios sitting beneath massive peaks…
and you still have time for a last minute trip out there (I checked, flights from the west coast are still around $800 during peak fall 👀)!!
‼️ fyi there weren’t many permits needed when I was there, but do your research as I believe access and permitting has changed since several years ago. and as always, practice Leave No Trace principles so we can preserve these beautiful places for generations to come~
