Summer is in full swing and HOT! Summer squash, zucchini, cucumbers, lettuce, beets, kale, herbs, flowers and the first few grape, sun gold and black krim tomatoes are ready to eat :)!

Our first winter squashes and melons are appearing :) :) :)

The bunnies continue to eat, most notably the peas and beans which no longer exist in the garden. We will need to get chicken wire as they seem to chew through everything else. But, all in all the damage is not awful so I'm glad to help the bunnies out with a free meal.

Bunny update:
Bunnies eat everything! I was surprised they liked rose greens and that they chomped my june berry starter as well as seedlings form Arbor Day Foundation.

This past week I found myself in the garden with big, fat rabbits and was surprised they too could dive through the netting. And appeared to have chewed a large hole in one section.

Our fence was reinforced today with more netting at the bottom.

This Saturday come over to eat cabbage and make Kimchi! The Chinese-style open head cabbage we grew is both robust and ready to be consumed or otherwise utilized! YUM, YUM, YUM! Any time after 12. I'll have the supplies for Kimchi, mason jars for containment and work to do in the garden if you are so inclined.

First Borage bloom and Broccoli harvest today!

HAHA! Earlier I in the garden weeding around the perennials and herbs. When I turned to go in, I saw a little bunny chilling in the garden. I thought that my friend had entered through the door which I leave open. I stood up. Bunny munched on a leaf of a sunflower. I walked closer. The bunny ran halfheartedly a few feet then hopped THROUGH the net which comprises half of the garden's fencing(~1.5' holes)! Amazing!

Yesterday we had a garlic mustard fest! We harvested it and made quiche. This fest will be earlier next year, the harvest was a little bitter. We also wanted to make a horseradish-like sauce but the taproot was too woody - the food processor was no match!

Harvested from garden: peas, salad greens, garlic scapes, herbs!

Today 4 more strawberry plants were added, YAY! Bought at Cortlandt Farm Market on route 202!

Lifebridge Sanctuary kicked off their semi-annual work week with a permaculture workshop lead by Ethan and Dyami of AppleSeed Permaculture (http://appleseedpermaculture.com/) The day initiated a 20 year permaculture plan for Lifebridge! Before lunch, five trees were planted with poly-cultures of perennial herbs transplanted from the existing vegetable/herb garden. After lunch we built a water level and A-frame then proceeded to mark contor lines in the forest. Using fallen wood we then created terraces along the contor lines to keep runoff and organic matter in the forest.
It was a lovely, informative day in the company of great people.
