Let's go chase the Aurora 🙌🏻
Extreme (G5) Geomagnetic Storm Possible.
The Bz component of the Sun's magnetic field (IMF) continues to swing rapidly between north and south. So far it reached a peak of -58 nT south. The strength (Bt) is also impressive at 91 nT. It should be noted that it appears the solar wind speed is above 1000 km/s. Severe (G4) geomagnetic storming continues and although not for certain, there is also a chance for the rare Extreme (G5) threshold to be reached. Especially if the Bz shifts sharply south for a long duration.
If it is dark outside at your location, look up for visible aurora which is happening now. Also for ham radio operators, 6m (50 MHz) is now coming to life with aurora signals.
More to follow.
