OKAY. 😂 This is a long one, so grab a coffee, get comfy, maybe grab a snack, and hang in there with me. I promise there’s a point to this novel.
A little behind-the-scenes look at The Santa Experience at Elle Lux Studios, because I think sometimes there’s a lot about professional photography that people don’t get to see!
First, let’s talk about AI.
I get asked A LOT if my images are AI-generated, and honestly, with how much AI imagery is floating around these days, I completely understand why people ask. Pinterest has even tried putting AI labels on some of my images, which is both frustrating and a little hilarious considering how many hours I spend creating them by hand.
So, just to clear that up: these are REAL sets, REAL photography, and REAL artistic editing. No AI-generated backgrounds pretending to be a studio set. No typing a prompt and calling it a day. Just creativity, planning, actual photography, and hours upon hours of hand-editing.
In fact, you’ll usually find me sitting at my computer in my pajamas, drinking absolutely unreasonable amounts of coffee, watching Netflix, and editing galleries for HOURS. 😂☕ It’s not exactly the glamorous life people imagine, but I genuinely love creating something special for my clients.
Now, let’s talk about what actually goes into creating The Santa Experience.
There’s a big difference between hanging a backdrop and taking a few pictures and creating a fully planned, private holiday experience for families.
These sets don’t magically appear overnight. There are backdrops, custom props, flooring, wardrobe, gifts, books, packaging, postage, cookies, advertising, and countless little details that all have real costs attached to them. There’s the investment in creating the sets themselves, hiring Santa, preparing for each family, planning the experience, and making sure everything feels special from the moment you walk through the door. There are also the hours spent photographing your family, selecting images, and individually editing your portraits afterward.
And yes, even the little things add up! The keepsakes, the gifts, the details that might seem small but are part of what makes the experience feel complete. All of that happens before you even factor in the time, training, equipment, studio expenses, and creative work that go into running a professional photography business.
I share this not because I feel the need to defend my pricing, but because I think it’s important for people to understand what they’re investing in. You’re not simply paying for 30 minutes and a handful of pictures. You’re investing in the entire experience, the artistry, the tangible keepsakes, the time and care that go into your portraits, and the work that happens long before and long after your session.

I know there are less expensive options for Christmas photos, and there’s absolutely nothing wrong with choosing what works best for your family and your budget. My goal was never to be the least expensive option. It was to create something truly special for families who value professional photography and want more than a quick picture with Santa.
