The September issue of Crystal Lake City Lifestyle magazine is here, and this month is all about The Art of Style! 📸

I shot the cover, featuring the lovely Allison Woodin, blending fashion with the architecture of one of Crystal Lake, IL’s historic buildings, the Jaster Building, now home to Vine & Plate.

Katie Bobrow wrote a fantastic feature titled “The More Things Change,” exploring how Crystal Lake’s historic storefronts and beloved parks have adapted over generations while continuing to serve the community, from a 1914 grocery still standing on Route 14 to Old Towne Hall’s ongoing role as a gathering place. Her research is fascinating, full of history, timelines, and historic photography.

A few behind-the-scenes shots are included here too, including a fun moment with City Lifestyle’s contributing photographer David Bradburn.

Also, check out the Publisher’s Letter featuring an updated headshot I photographed of Crystal Lake City Lifestyle’s Publisher Tracey Woodall Joyce, which includes her sweet Great Dane, Molly. More on that session in an upcoming post!

The September issue of Crystal Lake City Lifestyle magazine is here, and this month is all about The Art of Style! 📸

Welcome to my first Personal Branding Photography Spotlight Q&A, where I ask clients real questions about their experience.

First up is Melanie Perry of Perry Coaching, MCC (Master Certified Coach), an executive coach for Female Chief Medical Officers.

Q. What made you decide to invest in a Brand shoot, right now?

“Personal growth, I was ready to be seen and known as I get closer to 50. I’ve run a successful business for 15 years and I’m a Master Certified Coach, less than 4% of coaches achieve that. To reach my next goals, I believe I need to be more visible.”

Q. Was there a moment in our session that surprised you?

“You telling me to think of my daughter during the shoot. My business fuels me and my life, that north star was powerful.”

Q. What’s changed since?

“I uploaded one of these images as my Facebook profile picture, and it motivated a former colleague to reach out and hire me for an executive retreat with their team.”

Q. Your best piece of advice for someone on the fence?

“Book immediately. Your current and future self will thank you.”
