Foster of the day:

Catalina is still growing, just barely into her pre-teen years. She has opinions about most things, has to be the first one to taste the food in every bowl, is a fierce but merciful wrestling opponent and loves to be the center of attention. She has a motor louder than her petite frame would lead you to believe and more energy than I think Iv’e ever had. She is currently adoptable through Shady's Paw Animal Rescue

Shy cat Sunday!
Both Tiku and Clementine were very shy when I first adopted them.

Tiku (on the left) was adopted as a "pre-teen" from a cat lounge in Utah a few years ago. She hid under the cat beds in the cubbies, but when I pulled her into my arms she quickly warmed up and started purring.

Clementine (on the right) was absolutely terrified when I brought her home as a foster. She wouldn't even lay down, she didn't want to be touched, and she didn't trust me at all. We were told she had never been touched as a kitten. Instead, for three months, she sat bolt upright under the bed. Slowly, she began laying down. Then laying down in visible places. Then on the bed, and then one day she asked for pets. Finally, she climbed into my lap. Today, when visitors come by, she's often their favorite: she loves to hang out with us, rub against legs, and stand on the back of chairs.

Another of the cats here in the house just got diagnosed with FIP, which is thankfully now treatable 🎉 but still very expensive.
