We were supposed to do these pictures Wednesday.

Cold and rain said otherwise.

So we waited until Sunday, and turns out, Sunday had a pretty big surprise waiting for us.

Diane and Johnny had the whole crew there in cowboy boots. We were working around fighting off mosquitoes, and having a pretty normal family session.

Except Dolan was secretly waiting for his chance to propose to Brooke.

And somehow, we pulled it off.

I’ve known Jessica since we were in fifth grade, and now I get to photograph her family every single year.
How special is that?
Last night we headed to the railyard where their business is and then over to the white bins for a completely different look. It was a beautiful evening, and as always, we had so much fun together.
One of my favorite things about photographing the same families year after year is seeing how much changes and how much stays exactly the same.
The girls get older. Their personalities keep growing. But the laughter, the love and the way they all fit together are the things I want them to remember.

Last night we started at the railyard where their business is, then headed to the white bins for a little industrial feel.
The most beautiful night, so many laughs and another year of memories together.
I love that this is my job.

The behind the scenes of Hayden’s senior night was just as fun as the photos.

Ryder was there taking video. My mom was shooting with me. Onesti was helping and cheering Hayden on.

And Hayden just kept rolling with every outfit, every location, every little idea we threw at her.

A perfect fall night for Hayden’s senior session.

And I mean the kind of night we hope for in North Dakota. No wind. Fall colors starting. Outfits ready. Locations planned. Everybody just having a good time.

Onesti was there with Hayden, Ryder came along to take video, and my mom was doing photos with me, which made the whole night feel extra fun.

We started in the studio, then moved through downtown, the theater, the alley, the black brick wall, the Trenton Bottoms, the bridge, the tall grass, and the water.

Lots of variety. Lots of outfit changes. And Hayden handled all of it so well.

Honestly, nights like this are why I love senior sessions so much.

Save this if you’re planning a senior session with more than one outfit and location.

Happy 50th birthday to my business bestie, podcast partner, and the lucky person who gets all of my Voxer TED Talks. 😂

Sarah is truly a jack of all trades and can do basically anything. She’s the person I vent to, bounce all my ideas off of, create with, laugh with, and send voice messages that absolutely did not need to be 12 minutes long.

I’m so thankful this crazy business life gave me you. Life and business are both so much better and a lot more fun with you in them.

I got to spend the day with women who are at the top of what they do. Every single one of them still pushing for more.

We each took the stage. Everyone else sat in the audience and cheered.

Rooms like this are why I’ve grown. Every time.
