Trigger Warning: Infant Loss
Today was incredibly special for me. A while back, I offered free photo sessions for families of The Sandy Rico Foundation. After several reschedules due to weather and life’s heartbreaking circumstances, we were finally able to come together with the McRae family and gift them a photo session that had been a long time in the making.
In the midst of planning, this sweet family experienced the unimaginable loss of their precious little boy. There truly are no words for that kind of heartbreak. Yet even through their grief, they showed up with so much love, strength, and grace.
Spending time with them was an absolute joy. I had the honor of getting to know their beautiful daughter, Miracle, who is truly a little light in this world, gentle, joyful, and full of sweetness. The love this family shares is something you can feel the moment you are around them.
What made the day feel even more emotional and meaningful was that in nearly every photo where their little boy appeared, a tiny rainbow somehow found its way into the image. It was subtle, beautiful, and impossible not to notice, almost like a gentle reminder that love never truly leaves us.
The McRae family has walked through more than any family ever should, and my heart is deeply with them. I hope this photo session gave them even the smallest moment of peace and happiness, and that these images become treasured memories they can hold onto for years to come. Sometimes photographs become more than pictures, they become reminders of love, resilience, and the moments we never want to forget.
