just a small snippet from Madison & Blake’s gorgeous day 😍

while I’m making my way through editing the rest of their gallery, I couldn’t help but share just a few from the sneaks cause let’s face it, the world needs to see every single one of ‘em! 🤍

grateful beyond belief for couples who are down to just live in the moment of the day, have freaking fun, soak in all the marriage bliss with their people, && not let a little boutonniere injury keep you from loving the day!

p.s. the boutonniere injury I’m referring to, happened during picture one, but Madison is a champ && just kept keeping on 😅🤍

i wrote something to my daughter today that stopped me in my tracks.

i’ve been writing letters to her before she’s even here, and today I was telling her about the woman she’s named after: my grandma.

my grandma passed away recently, and one day I’ll get to show my daughter the legacy film I made of her. she won’t get to know her the way I did, but she’ll get to hear her voice. see her face. watch the way she smiled.

and what a gift that is.

my grandma almost always had a camera and a roll of film nearby && we have the hundreds of albums to prove it. i think she loved preserving memories. but somehow, she was also incredibly good at actually being in them.

&& I wrote this:

“the picture or video doesn’t have to be perfect. you just want to be able to look at it someday and remember exactly how that moment felt.”

i think somewhere along the way, especially in a world where everything can be photographed, edited, curated and shared, we’ve started putting a lot of pressure on memories to be beautiful.

but they don’t need to be.

take the blurry photo.
record their voice.
keep the mundane video.
get in the frame.

and then… put the phone down and be there.

because someday, the thing you’ll care about isn’t whether the photo was perfect.

you’ll just be really, really glad you have it. 🤍

wanting to post every single photo from weddings days and being limited to have to pick favorites should be a crime!

so much goodness to share from weddings and sessions this year but the overwhelm (in the best way) is getting to me! so going to just start sharing cause the photos deserve to be oogled by everyone’s eyeballs!

social media is such a weird place to be a creative.

you can make something you genuinely love, post it, and suddenly there’s a number attached to it telling you how “good” it is or how well it “performed”.

&& if you’re not careful, those numbers slowly start deciding how you feel about what you created in the first place.

so, a reminder for myself as much as anyone else:

not everything I create needs to perform to be worth sharing

yes, social media is part of my business, but it doesn’t get to decide whether I’m a good photographer, person, or creative.

sometimes I want to post the photo, because I love the damn photo 🤍😅
