Creating memories today that will be treasured tomorrow. 🤍📸

So grateful I get to capture them. 🌼

If someone would’ve told me a few months ago that this would be my random Wednesday night after a full day of teaching and a day of school for my boys, I probably wouldn’t have believed them. 🥹📸

What was supposed to be just a summer at the lake somehow turned into a whole new chapter for our family… we officially relocated and now call Grand Lake HOME full time! 🤍

It has been a whirlwind of changes, unexpected turns, and a whole lot of adjusting, but it truly feels like one of those blessings in disguise. I’m still finding my footing and settling into our new normal, but I’m loving this season and everything that comes with it.

And of course, photography is coming with me! 📸✨ I’m so excited to start building my clientele here around Grand Lake and the surrounding areas.

So stay tuned! I’ll be looking for a few models and offering some discounted sessions while I explore new locations, build my local portfolio, and get to know this beautiful area through my camera lens.

And to all of my amazing Kansas clients, don’t worry, I’m not going anywhere! 🤍 I’ll be making frequent trips back to Kansas and will continue booking sessions there.

Kansas will always hold such a special place in my heart, but I’m pretty excited to see what Oklahoma has in store for Memories by Mariah. 🤍📸

Here’s to unexpected chapters, new beginnings, and getting to do what I love in two places I get to call home. ✨

A time was had watching the airshow at Duck Creek Fireworks last night. Wind came in making the fireworks get postponed to tonight, but here are a few of my favorite shots from the evening.

It’s butterfly season 🦋📸

The butterfly house opened Friday at Botanica so I spent a couple hours that evening exploring with my camera, then sat and read my book soaking it all in.

Every butterfly I see will always be special to me, they are a reminder of my grandma and I know this is her way of visiting me.

I hope you enjoy this beautiful Viceroy (& yes I did have to google the exact type 🤪 I’m not that knowledgeable yet)

A few nights ago, as we stepped off the boat, Axel and I noticed something incredible. A tiny spider spinning its web from the side of our golf cart. 🕷️✨

Then as the golf cart's LED lights shifted through different colors, the spider and its web seemed to come alive, glowing in the darkness. It was one of those simple and beautiful moments that most people would walk right past, but Axel insisted I get the photo even though I explained it’s hard to take the picture at night.

The challenge? Night photography isn't easy even with a phone, it’s even more challenging with a full frame camera even when you have the right tools. With very little light, no tripod, no long exposure, and only the flashlight from my phone propped up on a seat, I had to get creative. Using the changing LED lights from the golf cart and a little patience, I was able to capture this tiny nighttime artist at work.

Not too shabby for a spider, a iPhone flashlight, and a little determination/motivation from my 4 year old 🖤📸✨

Some will say it’s AI. Some say it’s a rare scene. Some say it’s my equipment. Some say it’s overly edited to look this way. I say it’s a talent and art. I say it’s what I love

She sure was a beauty tonight on the water 🙂
