One of the main reasons I love photographing families is because perfection is already there.

Sometimes it’s in the little moments you don’t plan for, when the kids are simply being themselves. Their personalities shine through. Maybe they’re shy and hiding from the camera, maybe they’re being a little sassy, maybe they’re laughing uncontrollably, or maybe they’re just doing their own thing.

And honestly? There’s no wrong way to photograph a child during a family session.

I don’t want every photo to look perfectly posed. I want to capture them. The little quirks, the silly faces, the shyness, the big personalities, and all those tiny pieces of who they are right now.

Because one day, you’ll look back at these photographs and realize those imperfect, unplanned moments were actually perfect all along.

There’s something magical about the preschool years, when they believe in make-believe, twirl around in dresses, and dream of becoming princesses. It doesn’t last forever. Childhood never does.

So capture these moments. Print the photos. Hold onto the little details, the silly smiles, the twirling dresses, and the tiny hands you once held so tightly. One day, you’ll look back and remember just how small they were, and just how much magic filled those fleeting years are.

Summer is just around the corner!

As many of my returning clients know, I remain open for sessions during the warmer months, even though I scale back on advertising.

From June 1 to August 31, I’ll be observing a "summer soft closing." During this time, I focus on organizing and archiving galleries from the past year.

My business calendar follows a school-year schedule, allowing me to dedicate my most focused energy to the busy autumn, winter holidays, and spring seasons. I look forward to capturing more memories with you all soon!

Lately, I’ve found myself thinking a lot about something that’s been popping up more and more in photography groups I’m in–the use of generative AI in editing and image processing. It’s also something I’ve seen discussed in other hobby communities I’m part of, and it made me realize it’s probably worth talking about here, too.

I’ve noticed people posting photos in these groups where others will run them through generative AI to show examples or alternative edits. While I understand the curiosity around new technology, I personally don’t participate in that. Sharing or uploading someone else’s image into an AI system–even as an example–just isn’t something I’m comfortable with.

When you trust me with your photos, especially photos of your children or family, that trust means everything to me. I don’t upload client images into outside generative AI programs, and I don’t allow them to be used in any kind of AI training systems. The only AI-related tools I use are the built-in features inside Adobe Photoshop & Adobe Lightroom Classic for small cleanup tasks, like removing a distracting object or person in the background. That’s where it stops.

I do share select images on my Facebook and website to showcase my work, but you can always request that your photos remain private. Just let me know at any time–your comfort and trust mean more to me than any post ever could.
