There’s a certain feeling I’ve spent years chasing, yet somehow, somewhere along the way, I forgot what it felt like.
Today, I found a little piece of it again.
The skies were dark, the wind was howling through the trees, and winter was beginning to make its presence known. Snow drifted across the mountains, the cold cut against my face, and for a moment, I stood there feeling something I hadn’t felt in a long time.
It reminded me of the lonely roads I once traveled through Colorado. Those endless mountain passes, the silence, the uncertainty of what waited around the next bend. Places where I felt so far from everything I knew, yet somehow exactly where I was meant to be.
Out there, you’re in nature’s hands, not her care. And there’s something strangely beautiful about that.
Lately, I’ve felt caught between seasons of my own life. Somewhere between the freedom I once chased and the responsibilities I’ve come to carry. Between the person I used to be and the person I’m still becoming. Somewhere along the way, I’ve lost touch with parts of myself I never thought I’d lose.
Maybe that’s why today meant so much.
For a little while, I wasn’t thinking about where I’ve been or where I’m going. I was simply standing there, feeling that familiar sense of wonder again.
And perhaps that’s what I’ve been missing most.
Not the adventures themselves, but the way they once made me feel alive.
