Cairo architecture is interesting because, like many old cities, you can see the layers of the cultures who inhabited the city in their own times.

The challenge of visiting Giza is being able to separate the historical significance from the tourist attraction. Giza is so close to Cairo, and so well known, that it is challenging to find a view that isn't full of tour busses and people haggling you for money. Once you can put all that aside the grandeur of the pyramids is undeniable.

I have so many great photos to share from this trip but I may as well start with my favorite one!

I captured this giant king of the Serengeti on safari in the Ngorongoro crater, Tanzania. It had been close to an hour of not seeing much of interest until stumbling upon this majestic beast. Lounging with a full belly he genuinely seemed unafraid and unthreatened by our presence and glance over in mild curiosity. There is such a difference in the mannerisms of animals who are at the top of the food chain and the twitchy ones who generally end their lives as a lions dinner.
