Megan // Class of 2023
Megan is MY senior. She has stepped bravely, boldly and graciously into a senior year that has looked nothing like she could have anticipated and none of us would ever have expected. Her year included a sudden, complete overhaul of life with an abundance of change, uncertainty, loss, and hurt sprinkled in with some sweet God-surprises along the way.
When I think of her, I think of the word RESILIENCE. The dictionary definition of resilience is “the ability to recover from setback, adapt well to change, and keep going in the face of adversity; the ability of a substance or object to spring back into shape; elasticity.”
Synonyms include words such as: tenacity, endurance, grit, perseverance, persistency, strength, tenaciousness.
None of us would argue that life isn’t hard, challenging or sometimes confusing. As a mom, there is nothing more difficult than watching your children have to go through hard things and not be able to make it easier or to fix it for them. However, as someone who has lived a few years and experienced enough of life (and physical therapy lol), I know the growth that happens when we are stretched beyond what is comfortable and even tolerable. I also know that while our circumstances are ever changing, truths don’t change. We can always count on knowing God loves us, is sovereign and we can have joy in knowing our future is secure in Him.
I/We are so proud of you Megan. I have no doubt one day you will look back on this year and the things you have walked through and you will see God’s hand and faithfulness. This story will be woven in beautiful ways and be big part of your testimony. We can’t wait to watch you continue to grow and become who God has called you to be at Mount Vernon next year!
