This painting was inspired by my insomnia and this song that was running through my head one night while I was struggling to fall asleep. I got up and walked over to the window and the sky was so dark but the glow of the moon was sort of dancing on the surface of the Hudson River in the distance and it was so beautiful and inspiring.

Art, sunsets, statement jewelry, nature, cute outfits, more art.
Not pictured…a special 15th birthday (what is time?!), so many baseball games and soccer matches, heat waves, time with family and friends. 🤍✨

I feel like I’m in a bit of a time warp lately. Anyone else? It’s hard for me to wrap my head around that and process anything when it feels like it’s all happening so quickly and life throws you one thing after another. I just keep reminding myself to a step back and feel my breath and notice all the little things around me. It can be very comforting and grounding at a time when things feel very off and untethered.

I’ve been painting in these calm, subtle tones and colors a lot over the last few months. It’s a bit of a departure from my usual bold and bright explosions of color but I think it’s reflective of the peace I’m trying to channel on the inside when the world around us is so chaotic and uncertain. It’s not easy to do but…This is how I try to stay centered. I love getting lost in these textures and layers.

It’s funny what we can see when we’re examining abstract art. This piece reminds me of soft light on the ocean and the feeling of sand between my toes but it also makes me think of buttercream icing on a cake.

Eight years ago this summer I decided to take a chance on myself and rent a studio space. I felt ready to paint some place other than my basement and kitchen table and pushing myself to do that with the support of my partner and family has been the best and most unexpected thing in my career. My practice has evolved and grown a lot in this time and some years have definitely been harder and also better than others. It’s been an important lesson in trusting the process and myself! I’m most own worst critic but a major thing I’ve learned is that life and all experiences are not linear. The moment I accepted that, things became easier and definitely more fun and less stressful. Here’s to many many MANY more years of making art with love and purpose and intention. 🎨🖼️✨💫🤍

If you know me as an artist you know I’m a fanatic of all things colorful. But monochromatic art in rich black and white and cream tones and layers is another quiet obsession. Creating black and white paintings is a love language for me and is very true to my personal style as I’m someone who tends to favor those tones in my wardrobe with pops of color here and there. Couldn’t you just get lost in these details?!
