Brand photography isn't a vanity project. It's not a treat you give yourself after you "make it."

It's a business tool — one that works 24/7, on every platform, before you ever get on a call.

The full breakdown is on the blog. Link in bio.

Running a photography business means spending approximately 20% of your time actually taking photos.

The other 80%? Emails. Proposals. Trying to explain on your own website why good brand photography matters — while quietly judging your own headshot.

It's a very specific kind of irony. We're working on it.

The part nobody shows you: the twenty minutes before a brand shoot where the client is convinced she looks awkward in every photo and doesn't know what to do with her hands.

And then something shifts. She stops thinking about the camera. She starts just… being herself.

That's the job, really. The camera is almost beside the point.

Something quiet is happening every time a potential client lands on your website.
Before they read your copy, before they check your prices, before they decide whether to book a call — they've already made a judgment. And a huge part of that judgment comes down to your visuals.

Brand photography keeps getting filed under "nice to have" — somewhere between updating the website and finally sorting out that email sequence. But here's what that's actually costing you: credibility. First impressions. The clients who clicked away and kept looking.

Done strategically, brand photography isn't about looking polished for the sake of it. It's about showing up with intention — the right location, wardrobe, and storytelling — so that the right people feel it immediately. That's the business case. And it's a strong one.

New blog post is up. Worth a read if the photos on your website are giving you a vague sense of dread. Link in bio.

"But my iPhone takes good photos..." 📱

I hear this all the time. And you're right—smartphone cameras have come a long way! I use mine all the time.

But here's what your phone can't do:
❌ Control lighting to make you look your best (not just "good enough")
❌ Avoid lens distortion that makes your face look wider than it is
❌ Create consistent branding across all your platforms
❌ Capture the professional polish that says "established and credible"

Your website hero image? Your LinkedIn banner? Your sales page? These aren't the places for portrait mode selfies.

Save phone photos for behind-the-scenes content and Stories. Use professional photography for anything client-facing.

Because the difference isn't just about megapixels—it's about the message you're sending before anyone reads a single word.

First impressions happen in 3 seconds. Make them count.

💕 Fall in love with your headshot again.

You put your heart into your work—shouldn't your first impression reflect that? A fresh, confident headshot that actually shows the professional you've become.

Treat your brand like the relationship it is. Invest in it. Show it off. Give it the attention it deserves.

This February, let's create a headshot you're proud to share everywhere.

Your product is incredible. So why do your photos look like you took them in your basement with one lamp and a prayer?

(Okay, maybe that's harsh. But you know what I mean.)

Great product photography doesn't just show what you're selling—it makes people want it. The right lighting, angles, and styling turn "that's nice" into "I need that."

You've put so much care into creating your products. Let's make sure your photos do them justice.

How's your content calendar looking?

If the answer is "what content calendar?" or "I'm recycling the same three photos again"—no judgment. We've all been there.

Here's what helped me with clients who felt stuck: One brand photography session gave them months of content. Headshots, detail shots, lifestyle images, behind-the-scenes moments—all planned and cohesive.

Suddenly they weren't scrambling every week. They had a library to pull from.

Game changer.

New week, same question: Are your brand photos working for you or just taking up space?

If you're not excited to use them, your audience isn't excited to see them.

Here's how to show up to your shoot planning session with ideas that actually inspire you:

🌿 Browse Pinterest or Instagram and save photos that match your vibe
📝 Think about where you'll use these images (website? social? newsletters?)
👗 Pull together outfit options that feel like you
💭 Consider what story you want your brand to tell

You don't need it all figured out—just bring the inspiration and we'll build from there.

Ready to plan something you're actually excited about? DM me and let's talk.

Friday mood: Wrapping up the week, planning next week's shoots, and watching Sonny B. nap in a ball of fluff like he's got life completely figured out.

Honestly? He might be onto something. 😴

Whatever your weekend plans are, I hope they include at least one Sonny B.-level nap and zero work emails.

Happy Friday! 🌿

I hear the same reasons every time:

"I'll do it when I lose 10 pounds."
"I need to figure out exactly what I want first."
"It feels like such a big investment right now."

Here's what I know: Your business is growing right now. Your audience is looking for you right now. And that perfect moment you're waiting for? It doesn't exist.

Great brand photos aren't about being perfect—they're about showing up with confidence and giving your audience a reason to trust you before you ever speak.
You've already done the hard part (building an incredible business). The photos?

That's the easy part.

Stop waiting for someday. Your brand deserves to be seen today.

📸 Ready to finally check this off your list? DM me—let's make it happen.

Before I was a photographer, I was a social worker.

I spent years in nonprofits—stretched thin, underfunded, doing life-changing work that too many people never knew about.

Now that I'm on the business side, I see how much power we have as business owners to create real impact. Not through huge donations, but through consistent partnership and using our unique skills.

This month I wrote about what nonprofits actually need (hint: it's not always money), how your business can help, and why this matters for our community—not just your brand.

If you've been thinking about partnering with a nonprofit but don't know where to start, I hope this helps.
