After a long international trip, I am eager to get out and about and see some pretty birds. A few weeks ago, this beautiful Tricolor heron played with its feathers while we walked at a sanctuary boardwalk. It don’t seem to be too impressed with the humans nearby, preening and drying its feathers while we patiently waited to pass by.

Picture this… On a recent birding excursion out with my husband, I am locked in on a beautiful Great white egret playing with its food in the reeds next to a large pond. I’m clicking away, getting different angles of this beautiful bird. And then I see something BIG takeoff out of a thick of trees far behind the pond. At first, I thought it was an eagle. And then, I realize it was a HUGE Osprey.

I no sooner realize what this bird that is flying straight at me, but it then takes a steep dive into the water below not too far in front of me to catch its prey. It had spotted its dinner from so far away. A lovely experience and definitely not one I was expecting due to the area I was in that day to photograph birds. You just never know what you will see!

One of the many things I have enjoyed about our move back to Florida is the beautiful wildlife that make their homes right around us. This beautiful White Ibis was enjoying a meal at our ponds edge, just off of our back door. I sure do enjoy these moments.

Finally, a beautiful afternoon! Watching the sea swell crash into the rocks, exposing the beautiful blow hole from within. The sun making an appearance, glowing from above the beautiful tree canopy leading to the beach. It was calling our name to spend a little time there today enjoying it.

A sweet friend recently shared her passion for Jumping spiders while on a trip together. I’ve been interested in them so much since then. So this morning, when my husband told me he had caught one in our kitchen for me to see, I helped it find a new home in some flowers near our house. It obliged me with a little photo shoot before it finally disappeared into the flowers. What beautiful creatures!
