July 26th 2026 - That feeling of having the option of going out to have a cup of tea over adda/catching up!
Last week, between marching band camp and my work - Soh and I barely got a chance to talk! He would be sleeping when I left for work at 7a, and I would be dozing off to sleep when he came home around 9:30p.
We talked about the glorious results of the ongoing protests in India - the Gen-Z protests, and the unique ways they showed up in peace and revelry. Their sufferings and shenanigans. And how they proved the naysayers wrong!!
A few weeks ago, we had a lengthy discussion with someone close to us who has unfortunately become a blind follower of the ruling party in India. We tried to open their eyes to the blatant censorship of the media, the sheer privilege that allows them to support such a regime, and the dangerous realities of rising fascism.
Their arguments relied heavily on deflection and whataboutism, closely mirroring the corporate media narratives pushed by their billionaire owners. The rhetoric was strikingly similar to the standard MAGA talking points used in the US.
