It was a beautiful weekend to be a Waukeganite. Scoop Waukegan brought out THOUSANDS of Waukeganites and visitors from surrounding areas.
I was happy to be one of the several photographers running around grabbing pictures throughout the day/night. I have thousands of pictures to go through over these next couple of days. They’ll be posted here, and on other Waukegan pages so keep a lookout!
My favorite thing about Scoop is that it’s like a holiday for Waukegan. It’s not just about the classic cars and hot rods, it’s about the community that comes out to support the downtown businesses, check out the cars with their families, reunite with long lost friends, enjoy food and live music while also just having a great time overall.
There’s too many Waukeganites and former Waukeganites that are stuck on the Scoopin’ of the 60s. Get with the times. I really don’t care. A lot has changed since the 60s for a good reason. We all had a great, SAFE time last night. We can’t wait to do it again next year.
Waukegan is a melting pot of cultures. Scoop shows that. Some of you are scared of that. Some of you hate that. If you fall into the category, then I hope you’re staying out of Waukegan.
Anyways, thank you to everyone that made this possible! It was exciting to see so many smiling faces enjoying their time in Downtown Waukegan.
