I have been looking at camera phones to see how they match up to DLSR's. While they are easy and quick and, let's face it, always available, they still lack some of the "pro" qualities a DSLR provides. Though you may not notice them, the deep down qualities the average point and shooter experiences from a good camera phone, its when you step up to the big arena where the DSLR's distinguish themselves.
I may be shooting myself in the foot, with this next comment - But some of the upper end camera phones these days give the bottom line DSLR's a run for their money. But notice, I said top ... and bottom... And here is my argument - while it still holds true - look at the glass. a dot of glass on a camera phone vs the amount of glass on a DSLR lens.
Glass and sensor make all the difference. And after searching for an upgrade to my old LG V10 (R.I.P.), I settled on a camera that is ... a phone. Yep, I took the dive and bit the bullet on a high end camera phone. uh, for more than saying I spent more than I wanted to on a phone. Work is demanding the versatility of a quick pic and quality image that is afforded by the high end camera phones can provide.
Any one who knows me would testify that I cant see spending money I don't need to. So this one was a bitter pill to swallow. So off to the ask the people of the net their opinions (and BOY THERE ARE A LOT OF THEM) and reviews. Sorting through the junk reviews and opinions just to have an opinions (and hours of wasted time on my old phone), only after that, finding decent information to plan out, and form the criteria for my next purchase.
Well, once that was established it was off to the seemingly endless searches for a camera phone that fit the bill. And based on the criteria I established the field began to narrow. And it wasn't looking good. I was going to have to spend money. But I wasn't parting with my Bengi's for just bragging rights, I wanted to be able to future proof my investment.
I settled on a phone that should fit the bill and look forward to sharing some of the pics in the very near future. I must say I am excited and look forward to comparing images and capabilities. THAT should be interesting!
Keep snapping those pics and tell the story!
