I’ve been thinking a lot lately about why I shoot music and what it means to me.
Music has been one of the biggest constants in my life and I’ve been going to shows for over 20 years. Before I ever seriously got into photography, I was already the person going to shows, finding healing in music, and feeling deeply connected to the community around it.
Photography started much earlier for me though. As a kid, I used to borrow my dad’s camera whenever I could. In high school, I’d borrow friends’ cameras constantly because I was always drawn to capturing moments and documenting. Eventually after graduating, I got my first DSLR and started exploring photography more seriously.
But concert photography hits differently than any other genre I’ve been in.
There’s something really special about trying to capture not just what a show looked like, but what it felt like. The movement, emotion, lighting, chaos that I live for haha 🫶🏻
After moving to Washington, photography also became a way for me to immerse myself in the local music scene and build authentic connections through something I already loved so much!
It’s honestly crazy looking back at how much this passion has grown, especially recently. Between finally having my own creative space, continuing to push myself artistically, and now being onboarded with Neon Noise, I just feel incredibly thankful!!
Thank you to every band, venue, artist, friend, and person who has supported me, trusted me, or simply interacted with my work. Truly. 💙
I’m excited to keep learning, growing, and capturing more sick moments this year. 🤘🏻🤘🏻
If you made it this far- thank you! Make sure to check out neonnoise.net and support the publication on instagram
