I got into sports photography because I wanted to capture my kids doing the things they loved...to create memories for them and their teammates. Somewhere along the way, it became something I am truly passionate about. It gives me peace, a creative outlet and a sense of purpose.
I am so, so heartbroken that I will never get to photograph Solomon competing again. I miss him with all that I am.
I am carrying a lot right now, and honestly, I don’t really know what to do with all of it. But I do know that I want to continue capturing athletics. Solomon loved sports....playing them, watching them, and being with his teammates and classmates. I want to keep showing up in those spaces and carry him with me in whatever way I can.
So if you see me out on a field, mat or court soon, please come say hey or give me a fist bump. Know that I want to be there, even if I’m carrying alot with me, I'm also carrying Solo with me. ❤️

Pickleball community (and really anyone reading this), we need your help honoring Solomon. 💙

Our son loved this sport, mostly because it gave him the opportunity to play with his friends and be in community. In our small town, he played at night on tennis courts with tennis nets simply because that’s where the lights were.

Our dream is to honor his love for the game by building lighted pickleball courts where teens, families, and our entire community can come together to play.

We would love for you to join us in making this dream a reality and creating something lasting in Solomon’s memory.

So fun to be nominated for Best of the Pamlico!

This is always one of my favorite things the Washington Daily News does. I love that it’s a chance to celebrate all the amazing local businesses, schools, venues, and services that make Beaufort County such a amazing place to live.

Minimalism in sports photography is pretty much the opposite of what you are taught ~ fill the frame, catch the eyes, the ball, and the peak action... always.
But this month, my local photography club challenged us to embrace minimalism: negative space, leading lines, and a more concentrated color palette. I really enjoyed the challenge and want to work this style in more.
There is something special about using that wide-angle lens, letting the image breathe, and creating impact in a different way.
