Kurstin never imagined he would EVER become a wedding photographer. While growing up, his list of potential careers included being a professional hockey player, a sports agent, a bounty hunter, a stunt double, or a painter. In 2004, Kurstin was contracted to direct the photography and imaging for President Bush's re-election campaign. In the months leading up to the election, he visited virtually
every major city in the United States while photographing President Bush, the First Lady, and Vice President Cheney. Kurstin continued to work closely with the White House until the end of 2006. During that time he was constantly under pressure to produce outstanding images in the most demanding situations with no "do-overs." It wasn't until the fall of that year, when he ran into a wedding photographer who inspired him to leave the politics behind, that Kurstin decided to give wedding photography a try. After just one wedding, Kurstin was hooked. "I'm not your standard wedding photographer. I don't do typical. My approach is a little "fly on the wall", a bit of awesome, a pinch of Picasso, and a dash of rock and roll (a big dash!). My inspiration comes not only from the smiles and laughter and I-do's. It comes from being so crazy in love that you can't find the right words to talk about it, about never having enough time to spend with the people who mean the most to you, and about lazy Sundays where doing nothing but being together is one of the best feelings in the world. I offer clients a very personalized photographic experience that starts with the initial meeting and often times ends up lasting long after their album has been delivered. To me, wedding photography is much more than shooting eight hours on a wedding day. It is about getting to know each of my clients and to deliver a collection of images that reflects who they are, the bonds and little interactions they share with one another, and the joy and happiness that has led them to marriage. I am dedicated to creating the best possible photographic experience for every client who honors me with an invitation to document the most important people and moments in their lives. My ideal clients are passionate about photography. They want timeless, romantic and fine art images, and they're willing to do just about anything for that "wow" shot. They are so in love, they can't find the words to express it. I also realize that while the photography is important to my clients, it's not the only thing. I want them to smile so long and hard their cheeks hurt. I want them to rock their butts off at their reception and sing "Journey" with their friends until their lungs give out, but most importantly, I want them to remember their wedding day as it was....... through my images."
