My first visit to Zimbabwe in 2017 led me to one of the country’s remotest communities, spending half a day on the dirt road before reaching this commune of impoverished families. I was struck by their stories of survival, but mostly impressed by their indomitable spirit to live. This photo of the children sitting on their wooden cars is one of my favorite. If you look closely, you’ll realize that ingenuity lives among these kids. Imagine what they can do if they can overcome poverty.
