For the past few months, since July, to be exact, I’ve been quietly working on something that’s easily the biggest project of my life so far. A documentary film that tells the story of the incredible humans who dedicate their lives to protecting and restoring our Chesapeake Bay.

From Pennsylvania to Maryland, over five days of filming, this journey has been nothing short of transformative for me, both as a filmmaker and as a person. I’ve learned so much about the Bay, the people, and the purpose behind every oyster cage, shoreline, and restoration effort.

A huge thank you to Valerie, Maryland Communications & Media Relations Manager at the , Jody, Senior Vice President of Policy and Communications at the , and Adam, Communications Director at the , their guidance, coordination, and kindness made every step of this process possible. I’m truly grateful to have met and worked with so many incredible people along the way.

Special thanks to the Maryland State Arts Council for awarding me a $4,000 grant, which helped fund much of the work and expenses that went into this project.

And thank you to Frank, executive producer at , for sharing his knowledge and insight on what it takes to create and execute a project like this.

And lastly, my deepest gratitude to my friend .sadou13, who said “yes” the moment I asked him to come onboard for this film. His creativity and commitment have been absolutely crucial to this project, couldn’t have done it without him.

We’ve officially wrapped filming, and now it’s time to dive into post-production. Can’t wait to share this story with the world soon. 🎬

Uber Backseat Stories | Chapter Four: Hasan

It was another late afternoon after a shoot when brother Hasan pulled up to drive me home. A fellow Bangladeshi, soft-spoken, warm-eyed, who came to the United States back in 2007.

The ride was barely twelve minutes long, but he filled it with the kind of wisdom that lingers far beyond the trip.

Without me asking much, he began speaking about something deeply personal: the importance of maintaining family ties, especially for those of us who live far from home.

According to him, many immigrants here get lost in the cycle of work, money, and status. We chase progress so hard that we forget the simplest blessing we still have: family close by.

“People don’t understand the value of it,” he said. “Only the ones who have no one in this country know what that emptiness feels like.”

He spoke very gently, but the depth and weight of his words were heavy. "Life is already difficult on its own, why make it harder by letting small conflicts grow into silence between loved ones? Why let ego win over connection?" He said.

And just like that, the ride ended. Truth, spoken from the front seat of a Honda, somewhere in Maryland.

Another reminder that sometimes, the shortest journeys carry the longest echoes.

Every building has a story. And sometimes, so does the person behind the camera.

This is how day in my life was, not as a builder, but as a storyteller. As a marketing intern at Doyle Construction Company, I captured the work, the people, and the places that shape our world.

Come with me behind the scenes, into the dust and the details, and see what it means to build more than just structures, but stories worth remembering.

P.S. Footage includes both days on site and in the office, these weren’t on the same day, just highlights from my overall internship experience.

These moments highlight more than just construction, they tell the story of skill, precision, dedication, and teamwork behind every great build. Documenting the people who put their heart into the foundation of our communities is what makes this work truly special.

Uber Backseat Stories | Chapter Three: Negga

This is Negga, from Ethiopia. For the past three months, he has been one of my "long-haul" drivers, often the one taking me out to the Doyle construction sites where I work on photo and video assignments for my internship. Like Joao, whose story I shared earlier, Negga carries with him a quiet determination and a dream.

Negga is a quiet man, grounded and steady. But behind the wheel, he carries a dream that stretches far beyond traffic lights and highways. His plan for the future is simple, yet extraordinary: when he retires, he wants to spend the rest of his life traveling and photographing the world and nature!

He is already preparing for it. Recently, Negga bought himself a Canon EOS R, not just any camera, but one that allows him to dive into the full craft of photography. To him, real photography means understanding the manual settings, knowing how to shape light, exposure, and depth with your own hands. “If you don’t adjust the settings yourself,” he told me, “you don’t really know photography. You’re not in control of the picture you’re making.”

He’s all in: he plans to enroll in photography classes at Montgomery College and spends most of his free time watching YouTube tutorials, eager to master his camera one click at a time.

What struck me most was not just his ambition, but the purity of it. At a time in life when most people think about slowing down, Negga is dreaming of beginnings, of learning, creating, and seeing the world through a lens.

It was unexpected, and beautiful, to realize how photography, this craft of freezing light and time, can ignite such passion in someone at this age. It's a reminder for the rest of us that it is never too late to start. All you have to do is just start working for that next big step, your passion, and your dream.

More than a ride.
