Under Wraps (1997) was a DCOM written by Don Rhymer & directed by Greg Beeman (who, fun fact, was a producer on Smallville, Heroes, & Falling Skies, other favorites of mine).

The movie is about 3 teens & one very innocent mummy as they team up, go on some wacky adventures, and race against time to reunite the mummy with his 4500-year-old lover.

Man, I loved the weird stuff we grew up watching 😂

Apparently there was a reboot/sequel in 2022? 🤷🏾‍♂️

HALLOWEEN CRACK for 90s KIDS 🎃

if you’re a 90s kid and this doesn’t stir up joy deep inside of you, you probably need therapy.

… i mean, honestly, even if it DOES stir up some joy, you probably need therapy too, but that’s besides the point!

IT’S OCTOBER AND THAT MEANS HALLOWEENTOWN!!

i remember being so happy because Marnie’s mom was April O’Neal from the original TMNT movie 🥹

Halloweentown (1998)

This Disney Channel Original Movie was written by Paul Bernbaum, Jon Cooksey, and Ali Marie Mathison, directed by Duwayne Dunham, and stars Kimberly J. Brown & the late Debbie Reynolds.

It follows Marnie Piper, a teenage girl who learns that her grandma, her mom, and SHE are witches, and she must help her grandmother save Halloweentown from evil forces.

An instant classic and fan-favorite, the movie spawned 3 sequels and became synonymous with the Disney Channel during spooky season 👻

for a Halloween Pizza Hut commercial 😆 but ngl, some stuffed crust after trick-or-treating would be fire af

imma pepperoni, pineapple, jalapeño type guy. we can fight about it in the comments, but the savory, sweet, spicy is everything.

and it’s a proven fact that it tastes better if you happen to be wearing a Spider-Man costume 🤷🏾‍♂️

I CAN’T STOP TALKING 😩

it isn’t my fault! it’s something deep, deep inside of me, damn near in my dna that just requires me to react when stuff just starts getting creepy.

i’m def the one in the theater who says, “oh hell no,” or “nope,” or my favorite, “uhhhh…” 🤣

for anyone who’s ever sat near me in a theater, i’m sorry but i hope i provided more entertainment value.

Cousin Skeeter (1998–2001)

Created by Alonzo Brown & Brian Robbins, this crazy live-action sitcom blended traditional storytelling with puppetry, following Bobby Walker and Skeeter, a wisecracking puppet who turns his world upside down in every way possible.

Set in a Black middle-class household in New York, the show was about anything from running for class president to being trapped on a speeding bus because the driver passed out with his foot on the gas 😂

especially the Halloween-themed ones. such a vibe. & lowkey legit creepy.

WHY WAS THIS NOT A HALLOWEEN DCOM??

it premiered in NOVEMBER 😆

well, i guess it was close enough. just spooky enough to satisfy your terror bone in case you needed a little fix before Thanksgiving.

i recently watched a retrospective on this and the creator did such a great job analyzing the film and why the themes slap just as hard today Emily 👏🏾👏🏾

it’s a good watch if you wanna check it out!
