A couple of weeks ago I mentioned that I was finalizing some things for my first ever large solo art exhibition. Well those things are finalized now and I am so excited to share more details!
I will be hosting my first large art exhibition at the Norfolk Botanical Garden! This is truly special for me in so many ways. I had the lovely opportunity to work at the Garden for 7 years after I first dropped out of college. My time there shaped me in many significant ways. It pushed me creatively, it taught me the power of nature, and it has brought me invaluable relationships in my life. I even got married there.
I don’t share much about this but over the last 6 months I have applied to over 235 art shows / museums / any places that hold art. A couple said no and gave feedback, a few gave automated emails declining my application, and most of them didn’t even respond. It’s been one of the most discouraging seasons artistically for me. Almost to the point that I wanted to give it up. Photography has been a creative outlet, a job, and one of the most consistent things in my life over the past 20 years. This “yes” has really created a whole new fire in me and I cannot wait to share the world through my eyes and lens next year.
Special shoutout to Local Joe who has been my other “yes” over the last year on Oahu.
So, while I don’t have all the specifics ready to release, the exhibition will run April-June 2027. I will be hosting a reception (date tbd) there and will be sending all that information out in the coming months.
I don’t have the exhibition name ready yet but I will be sure to announce that when I do as well. This show is going to have a huge amount of love and hard work thrown in to it. I can’t wait to share with you all.
Thank you for being here and thank you for believing in me. 💛
See you in 2027!!!!!
