Working in nursing home is one of the most rewarding and hardest job I’ve ever had had in my career. Between dealing with death on almost a daily basis or someone nearing death and helping them and their family members if any through it. There are days I go home and cry feeling I wish I could have done more and days I’m just utterly exhausted and just need silence, too drained to eat or do life even. It’s the little things like this that keep me going as a reminder to why I keep showing up everyday and what I do really matters even if it is small. To watch this man wake up a 4am and go to the main dining room and prepare a table for him and other comrades like him and just do something “a little more” for them. He will make place mats out of paper napkins and “reserve” the table for them. Also placing a clothing protector for each one of them as well. This is his daily routine, something he enjoys.
