My media business turned 13 🥹📸
I started my first company right after graduating from college. It’s funny, because I went to school for multimedia with a concentration in 3D modeling and animation but that’s really the only part of my degree I don’t use.
I was supposed to take Photography 101 as a freshman. And honestly if I had, I’m not sure anything would have come of it. So many other big exciting classes would have eventually drowned it out and it would have just felt like one of those classes you have to take. The easy A.
But. True to my nature, I took Photography 101 my final semester of my 5th year. And the version of me that took that class, was a version that was ready and waiting for it. I was almost done with my degree..and I was ready.
I purchased my first DSLR on Craigslist’s. And if you’re first thought was ooh that’s sketchy, yeah it was. I drove 2 hours to meet a guy in Minnesota. Being a college student I didn’t have a big budget. The camera setup was $2000 and at the time, that was a really big deal for me. I won’t go until the details of it all, but the camera ended up being part of an insurance fraud scheme. A police officer called me a couple months later to investigate it.
I remember tearing up..begging the officer to please not take my camera because I had spent all the money I had and was just starting my business.
Lucky for me he didn’t have to take it.
Shortly after I registered my LLC and started my life in Multimedia. And 13 years later, I still love this work so deeply. I have grown up in front of and behind the camera over the last 13 years. I have had the privilege of capturing the happiest and the saddest moments of others.
I have worked hard and given this career my everything. And in return it has given me everything too.
So thank you to those who worked with me in 2013, you took a chance on a kid just starting her journey. And thank you to all my clients over all of these years. You made this dream possible for me. And to my partner Zeke, who said yes to holding my camera 8 years ago - thank you for all your support.
I’ll see you through the lens 💕
