Visiting Liberty State Park, Jersey City during extreme heat/humidity with thunderstorms may not be the best way to view the New York City skyline, but for someone seeing it for the first time, it is still breath-taking.
Walking through the Empty Sky Memorial (which points towards Ground Zero and lists the names of New Jersey's 9/11 victims) was humbling. As one walks through it, the polished sides started with a slight golden tint that slowly opened up to a silver reflection of the skyscrapers beyond.
The last image is of the Liberation Monument, a WWII monument depicting an American soldier carrying a concentration camp survivor.
With the Statue of Liberty close by, it is no wonder why this place is called Liberty Park.
