Today’s weather was about as pleasant as you could ask for considering my location and what month it is. For some reason it triggered a bit of nostalgia in me. It made me remember how “boring” summer used to feel by mid July. But oh how nice it would be to deal with that boredom for awhile. Funny how we don’t often appreciate the “gift” of the present moment.

There are so many ways to frame and “capture” a scene. An artist’s job is to tell the story of what struck them in that moment. They are the conduit. And with consistent practice they are slowly able to reduce the restrictions and resistance. Eventually, the end result gets closer to what they pictured in their mind. If they’re lucky, the day will come where the end result surprises even them!

However, with so many tools at our disposal today, the temptation is to attempt to utilize them all! Endless tweaks to improve shadows or colors just a half of 1%. Then we share it to uncalibrated and lower resolution screens all over the world that can’t even perceive the difference… That, or we completely lose the plot and change what we originally saw and felt into something extremely different.

The point of this carousel is to illustrate exactly that!
