Last week I was able to go out to Boston on a very short trip with my wife. We spent a beautiful morning walking around downtown where we had absolutely no plans, just explor, see, and enjoy Boston. It’s an absolute beautiful place with so much beauty, life and history. With absolutely no planning or looking up a e stumbled across; Kings Chapel cemetery- the oldest cemetery in Boston proper dating back to 1630, Granary Burying Grounds - home to Paul Revere, Sam Adams and Ben Franklin’s parents, Boston Common and the Commonwealth Avenue Mall.
One of my favorite stops was the Boston Public Garden, with a towering bronze statue of George Washington that stands at the Arlington Street entrance. Sculpted by Thomas Ball and dedicated in 1869, it was funded by Boston residents through donations and fairs as a tribute to leadership.
A short walk away I found the Commonwealth Avenue Mall. I found so many beautiful statues hiding in the foliage as it was starting to turn gold for Fall. One that stuck out in particular was a statue of Alexander Hamilton, known as “The Gift of Thomas Lee.” Donated in 1865, it was carved from granite by William Rimmer and stands as one of the city’s earliest tributes to Hamilton’s legacy.
There’s something special about standing between these historic monuments — a reminder of how much sacrifice has been made for us to enjoy the freedoms we have. It was such a reflective walk and so fascinating to stand among such prominent figures. In my short stay in Boston it was so amazing to see how America’s early story is still alive and thriving in this city. I can’t wait to go back! 🇺🇸✨
