Lots going on at the Hobart Data Center this week. Gravel lots, building pads taking shape, light poles going up, and a new entrance round out just a few of the changes since the last flight.

Things are moving so fast, we may have to try to visit more often just to keep up!

Earlier this week, Birds Eye View stopped by the Hobart Data Center construction site to check out the progress.

It appears that the workers may have built a fountain near the back of the property. We can only suspect this was meant to be a decorative feature intending to calm and relax the workers, who are no doubt stressed due to the damage caused by a derecho that tore through Northwest Indiana earlier this month. More building pads are beginning to take shape. It's possible that the groundwork for a power generation station has started, although this is speculation based on comparison to other data center's we have recently visited.

Birds Eye View Aerial Images has no official ties to this project, the companies involved, or its workers. We have no official stance for or against this or any other project in the area; we simply love showing the world a Bird's Eye View of what is really going on. As a part of Bird's Eye View's Hobart Data Center project, we decided to fly out and about and visit other data centers in the area. What originally started as a project to show the world what the day-to-day work of an aerial photographer was like has turned into a deep dive into the original mission for our Hobart Data Center Project: to show the world an unbiased, fact based, above the B.S. view of what is really happening.

In this mini series, we will visit the Portage and New Carlisle Data Centers, and possibly others that may have credible concerns worth documenting, exposing, or debunking.

Will I edit this footage? Yes. Let's be honest, 6 hours of me staring at a screen, researching, and editing won't make for a quality product.

Will I edit this footage to hide, deceive, mislead, lie, create clickbait, etc? Absolutely not. We run a quality operation here, this is not CNN.

Will this video/series address every concern about data centers? No. Some "concerns" are so outlandish that they aren't worth the time, and others won't be able to be documented, proven, or debunked via the equipment I have. But if you submit a lede worth tracking down, we may just mention you in a video!

Am I being paid for these videos? At the moment, no. However, I am always looking for paid work, and sponsoring my videos is never out of the question either, so long as it allows me the freedom to make these videos correctly.

Who should see these videos? Everyone. Pro-data center folk, anti-data center folk, people whose aunt's cousin's husband twice removed drove past a data center and said... well, you get it. Everyone.

The Bird's Eye View Drones have been busy with all sorts of work lately, but they haven't abandoned their data center checkups! Lots of progress in the 2 weeks or so since the last flight, and after seeing the Portage and New Carlisle facilities, it's becoming a bit easier to see how this is going to take shape.

Interesting thing to note: multiple times in the past few weeks people have stopped by mid-flight or right after landing to ask questions. While we are not in any way officially the "Data Center Drone Guy," have no affiliation to this project or any of the companies involved, and do much more than just film construction, we do appreciate that you've seen and recognize the work put into this project.
