Meet Lauren Box from Valliant, Oklahoma!

Lauren is a team roper and rodeo mom who knows firsthand the dedication that comes with being involved in the rodeo world. Whether she’s the one holding the reins or cheering from the sidelines, rodeo is a big part of her life!

I had the opportunity to ask Lauren a few questions about herself, her involvement in rodeo, and some of the things she enjoys most!

It’s been such a fun experience getting to interview people throughout McCurtain and Choctaw Counties. Every interview gives y’all a chance to learn something new about the people who help make up our local rodeo community!

MCCURTAIN & CHOCTAW COUNTY RODEO COMMUNITY INTERVIEWS
🤠 NOVEMBER DATES ADDED! 🤠

Due to the incredible amount of interest in my Local Rodeo Community Interviews, I’ve quickly realized that October simply doesn’t have enough availability to accommodate everyone!

With that being said, I’m excited to announce that I will be opening TWO additional dates in November!

Each date will have 6 interview slots available, for a total of 12 additional opportunities to participate!

🤎 A Little About This Project

Having grown up rodeoing myself, this project is something that is truly close to my heart. I know firsthand the hard work, dedication, and passion that go into this sport, and I want to give the people in our local rodeo community an opportunity to share their stories.

This opportunity isn’t limited to just competitors! I would love to highlight our local rodeo producers, announcers, stock contractors, and stock providers as well. There are so many individuals who play an important role in keeping our sport alive, and I want their stories to be heard, too!

My goal is to highlight the incredible individuals who make up our rodeo community and capture the stories behind their love for the sport.

There is a small booking fee to help cover a portion of the time and resources that go into each interview and photography session. I’ve kept this as minimal as possible because this project is something I genuinely love doing, and my biggest goal is to celebrate the community that has always meant so much to me. 🤎

IMPORTANT: If you have already reached out to me expressing interest but have not yet secured an interview date, please message me again with the information listed above! I want to make sure I don’t overlook anyone and that everyone interested has an opportunity to participate.

Hard work, dedication, and a whole lot of time in the saddle!

For interview #3, I got the chance to sit down with Maggie Houston and ask her a few questions about her journey in the rodeo world!

From barrel racing and pole bending to breakaway roping, Maggie does a little bit of everything! She’s also currently learning how to team rope and has recently stepped into the world of stallion ownership with her new stallion, Ima Fancy Fling! 🐴

Maggie is a dedicated cowgirl who isn’t afraid to put in the time and effort to chase her goals. Her hard work and passion for what she does definitely doesn’t go unnoticed!

Interview #3 | MAGGIE HOUSTON

Maggie is a barrel racer from Soper, OK who has recently taken on an exciting new adventure with the purchase of her stallion, Ima Fancy Fling!
We’re excited to give everyone a chance to learn a little more about Maggie, her horses, and her plans for the future!

The whole purpose behind this series is to bring a little more recognition to the cowboys and cowgirls right here in our McCurtain and Choctaw County rodeo community. It’s a chance to go beyond the arena and get to know the people we see competing, cheering each other on, and doing what they love.

Maggie is an all around cowgirl who competes in barrel racing, pole bending, goat tying, and breakaway roping. It takes a lot of hard work and versatility to compete across that many events, and Maggie is a great example of the young talent we have right here in our local rodeo community.

I’m excited to share my first local rodeo community interview!

First up is Danielle Houston of Soper, Oklahoma. Danielle is a rodeo mom, former rodeo competitor, barrel race producer, hairstylist, and PEMF technician.

These interviews aren’t anything fancy, just me sitting down and visiting with people from our local rodeo community and giving them a chance to share a little bit about themselves. My goal is simply to highlight the athletes, families, producers, and people who make up the rodeo community here in McCurtain and Choctaw Counties, to the best of my ability.
