When we can’t have what we want or need, we sometimes make unhealthy substitutions whether it be an addiction, unhealthy decisions, or simply stagnant inaction. When we have no means or ability to express our creativity, it becomes bottled up in our psyche and sometimes leads to anger, bitterness and depression.

Every day we slaughter our finest impulses. We lack the faith to believe in our own talents and abilities. There is only one true activity: creation. The substance of art and creativity is the human soul.

You will never give anything of value to the world until you can be yourself. Every person - when they become quiet, when they become desperately aware, and honest with themselves - is capable of uttering profound truths for we all derived from the same divine source.

Despite the pride we all share in our Coyotes, the present condition of our stadium is nothing more than an embarrassment when night falls during a game. Sadly, the Honey Bowl has the reputation of being one of the most poorly-lit arenas in the state.

A quick look at an aerial photo of the stadium at night shows what are known as “dead spots” among photojournalists. It didn’t always use to be this way, in the past the stadium had six light banks. Due to a decision to reduce power usage (and save money), the number was cut to four. Granted, new brighter lights replaced old ones, but now the middle section of the track is in darkness.

It’s a shame when smaller school districts have better facilities than Uvalde. At this time, the only solution is a complete refurbishing of the stadium. However, the money would be better spent on improving educational opportunities for students. Unfortunately, this possibility has also been kept in the dark for much too long.

(Note: I wrote this in response to a comment posted on the Uvalde PD page, but I believe it’s worth posting as a stand-alone comment.)

While the term “illegal alien” is essentially correct, it is not a “legal” term. It’s being disused in favor of “undocumented alien” by law enforcement because using the term “illegal” is derogatory and negative in both legal and moral grounds.

The legal grounds include:
• it is legally misleading because it connotes criminality, while presence in the U.S. without proper documents is a civil offense, not a criminal one;
• it is legally inaccurate because it is akin to calling a criminal defendant “guilty” before a verdict is rendered;
• it is legally imprecise because it implies finality even though immigration status is fluid and, depending on individual circumstances, can be adjusted;
• it is technically inaccurate because it labels the individual as opposed to the actions the person has taken.

The moral grounds include:
• the term scapegoats individual immigrants for problems that are largely systemic;
• the term divides and dehumanizes communities and is used to discriminate against people of color;
• the term creates an environment of hate by exploiting racial fear;
• the term affects attitudes toward immigrants and non-immigrants alike, most often toward people of African, Asian, Central American and Mexican descent;
• the term impacts the way young people feel about themselves and their place in the world;
• the term increases the American public’s tolerance for daily violations of human rights;
• the term is a code word for racial and ethnic hatred;
the term is outdated, offensive, and implicitly carries with it negative connotations

Why are white/Anglo people so afraid of undocumented people? Granted, some are dangerous, but they don’t want trouble any more than we do. They’ll do anything not to bring attention to themselves.

Some serious pondering today:
People’s panicked response to this “gas shortage” is just insane! I mean, what’s wrong with these idiots that don’t understand that they themselves created a gas shortage caused by their hoarding?

Did you see the news clip of that lady trying to fill plastic bags with gas, then put them in her car? Why didn’t the guy shooting the video try to stop her. Why didn’t ANYBODY try to stop her???

People are basically good, but they don’t seem to be basically smart, knowhutImean?

Restaurants are saying they’re having trouble staffing. I believe it. But what they won’t admit is one reason they’re having trouble is because most refuse to pay a living wage. Who wants to go back to work when they know they’re not being appreciated enough to be given enough to pay bills and put food on the table? You might as well work for Walmart.

Is it me, or do most city and county organizational FB pages not know about how to write a proper story, follow-up and captions if necessary? Or do they just not care?

For example, the UPD is always informing us about police chases and such, which is fine, but they hardly ever post a follow up about what happened? Did they catch they guy? Are they still looking?

I don’t mean to rant, but I read their stories on here and I always have to ask myself, “What happened next?”

In another “I have to wonder,” would people be just as upset if non-citizens crossing the border were white? What if, for the sake of argument, they were Irish? Or German? Or European? We’ve all seen how people behave toward white terrorists, what if illegals were white? Would they be received with kindness and tolerance? Would there be cries and protests for understanding and compassion? (WLM?)

Why do white Americans want to get rid of Latinos like they did Native Americans? For decades, Latinos have been the backbone of the American workforce doing the jobs whites don’t want. I find it ironic that people say migrants are criminals with ill intent. That may be true, but have they by any chance seen the ethnicity of all the recent shooters and terrorists? Not one of them has dark skin or named Rodriguez... or Gonzales... or Martinez...

Why do white Americans want to push Latinos off their native lands? Whites are always proud of at least five generations in Texas, while Hispanics have had twice that many going back to the 1500s. It seems the only people who aren’t worried about non-citizens are Hispanics. I wonder if it was the same way when whites pushed the Comanches and Apaches out of Texas, because they were considered too hostile and aggressive. I guess I would be too if somebody tried to throw me out of my home because they thought they deserved it more than me. Kinda ironic whites did the same, but called it “Manifest Destiny.” Some things never change.

Being a Texan, I always wonder why it’s all cowboy, but no “vaquero”? With no vaqueros, there would be no cowboys. But you never hear any mention of it, there are no commercials on TV for vaquero ranch trucks, even though he salesmen are sometimes Hispanic.

One last wonder. Why do people say “if you don’t like it, leave”? This is my home, and this has been my family’s home for four generations. We were here before there was a Texas.

I have to wonder; are Hispanics scared of the massive influx of undocumented non-citizens? They don’t seem to be. I’m watching the news and the only people they’re interviewing are white ranchers, and even the few that are Hispanic, they’re (still) Trump supporters and biased against any kind of non-American (or Democrat).

I hear many comes are being committed by transients, but that’s to be expected. That doesn’t make it right but that’s what desperate people do. I haven’t heard of anyone being hurt, have you? They don’t seem to be bothering American Hispanics. I guess they realize that some me people here aren’t that much better off than they are.

I have to laugh. Most of the of the non-citizens aren’t stopping in Uvalde, just passing through. Even they know what a crap town Uvalde is and if they want a decent life, they have to at least make it to San Antonio.
