Fall is the season that takes things away - leaves come down, fields go to stubble, fog rolls in and the sky flattens to a sheet of gray. Everything leaves, and everything feels simpler. This fall photo contest, we want you to lean all the way into those elements.

The rule is simple: give your subject room - a lot of room. Create your composition with your subject small in frame, surrounded by space - open sky, fog, water, brick, grass, fields. Emptiness isn’t wasted space, it’s the preferred place. Simple backgrounds beat the busy ones and silhouettes with strong outlines are a gold mine. Use the negative space to make the subject you left in frame feel deliberate, lonely, or quietly enormous.

So Leaf Space and get creative! Submit up to three of your most creative images that embrace negative space for a chance to win big in this year’s fall photo contest!
